In late 2013 and early 2014 Curran Folkers interviewed ten artists from seven provinces for a collection of conversations intended to present a cross-section of the multitude of excellent work being produced in Canada and by Canadians today. The publication features artists running the gamut from emerging newcomers to Sobey Award winners. There is no over-arching agenda, or critical slant that defines the project -- no elaborate curatorial pronouncements. The artists featured here often have little in common other than the fact that their work is greatly admired by SB, and that they are all deserving of recognition for their contributions. In a sense, this publication is simply our way of shouting from the rooftops that Steel Bananas loves Daniel Barrow, Jack Bishop, Sarah Allen Eagen, Terrance Houle, Shawn Hunt, Sarah Anne Johnson, Madeleine Collective, Clint Neufeld, Natalie Tan, and Diana Thorneycroft. We think you should too.
